The name Alpheratz comes from the Arabic surrat al-faras, meaning “the navel of the horse.” The star’s other traditional name is Sirrah. Sirrah is one of the brightest stars in Andromeda and it has consisted of two stars revolving around each other in a small orbit.
Sirrah is very distinctive and very shiny, so we attributed the name of the hotel to it and reflected the idea of its circular movement around each other in the design of the hotel.
